PRIVACY

Privacy Policy

PearlSift saves only the information needed to restore, sync, and share the passages you choose.

Information we handle

When you use PearlSift, we may process your account name, email address, profile image, the URLs and titles of pages you highlight, selected passages, notes, visibility choices, and basic service logs. The extension does not collect page content that you did not select.

How we use it

We use this information to restore highlights on source pages, sync your library, authenticate your account, show public highlights you explicitly publish, keep the service reliable, and respond to support or safety reports.

Public and private highlights

New highlights are private by default. A highlight, its note, your display name, and its source may be visible to anyone only after you choose Public. You can change the visibility or delete the highlight later.

Service providers and security

PearlSift uses Cloudflare to host the application and database, and Google or GitHub when you choose them for sign-in. Data is transmitted over encrypted HTTPS connections. We do not sell personal information or store provider access tokens.

Chrome Web Store Limited Use

PearlSift's use and transfer of information received from Chrome APIs complies with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements. We use this information only to provide or improve the web-highlighting features you choose to use. We do not sell it, use or transfer it for personalized advertising or credit-related purposes, or allow humans to read private user data except with your explicit consent for support, when necessary for security, to comply with law, or when data has been aggregated and anonymized for internal operations.

Your choices and deletion

You may request a copy or deletion of your account data, correct your profile, make highlights private, or delete them. Contact us through the support page. We retain information while your account is active and as reasonably necessary for security and legal obligations. Local-only highlights can be removed from the extension by deleting them or clearing the extension's storage.

Contact and updates

Questions about privacy can be sent through our support page. We will post material changes here and update the effective date.
